Position Summary
The Action Centre Coordinator will be responsible for the effective operation of the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre as set out in the Alberta Municipal Climate Change Action Plan.
This is a supervisory position providing expertise, advice and support to an executive and steering committee, and reports directly to the AUMA's Director of Policy and Advocacy. It requires sound knowledge of municipal politics, climate change mitigation and energy efficiency measures.

**Frequent travel throughout Alberta will be required.
Education/Experience
- A Bachelor's degree with relevant work experience is required; a Master's degree will be considered an asset.
- A background and/or understanding of municipal politics, climate change mitigation and energy efficiency measures would be necessary.

A minimum of 5 years work experience, including:
- Supervisory experience;
- Program planning, implementation and evaluation;
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills;
- Effective interpersonal and facilitation skills to work with multiple stakeholders including various government departments and associations.
Responsibilities
The Coordinator will provide coordinated leadership in implementing the Alberta Municipal Climate Change Action Plan. This includes receiving guidance and direction from a steering and executive committee made up of representatives of Alberta Environment, AUMA, AAMDC and Alberta Municipal Affairs. The position will report to the AUMA's Director of Policy and Advocacy, and supervise two research analysts who together with the coordinator will form a Climate Change Action Team.
Initial responsibilities of the Action Centre Coordinator include:
- Updating the existing work plan and budget to solidify objectives and the tasks that will be completed to reach them
- Selection and hiring of research analysts
- Overseeing development of a website for the centre
On an ongoing basis the Coordinator will supervise work of the research analysts and lead the Action Team in providing municipalities technical assistance, tools and expertise on effective methods of reducing GHG emissions. Activities of the Action Team will include:
- Helping identify areas and activities for increasing energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions;
- Providing advice on the development and implementation of municipal action plans;
- Providing municipalities with information on potential funding options;
- Assisting in identifying barriers and providing potential solutions to taking action on climate change;
- Contracting individuals and organizations that can provide municipalities with information and capacity building;
- Conducting education and outreach, such as workshops and other events;
- Providing progress reports on implementation of the Action Plan and making any necessary updates;
- Coordinating information, and acting as a liaison, between various orders of government, municipal stakeholders and related organizations; and
- Working with the Steering Committee to develop a transition plan.
