The effects of climate change hit poor populations the hardest. Literally billions of people in Africa and South Asia face growing risks of extreme droughts and food shortages. Hundreds of coastal cities around the world, and entire countries (e.g. Bangladesh, the Maldives), are threatened by rising sea levels. Many poorer countries are already introducing fuel rationing, while in richer countries such as Canada, skyrocketing energy prices are forcing many people to cut back on health care, travel, and even food.

By creating clean energy technology, and making it accessible for developing nations, we are giving these countries the opportunity to develop without the extensive energy problems that we have had. We can learn from our mistakes!
